Keliy Anderson-Staley: Imagined Family Heirlooms
Exhibition: March 26 - April 23, 2011
Reception with the Artist Saturday, March 26
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Keliy Anderson-Stanley has worked in lost and little used photographic
processes for the last decade. She has shared her knowledge through
courses at The Center for Alternative Photography in New York and the
Bakery Photography Collective in Westbrook, ME, to name a few.
Anderson-Stanley's technique lends itself to the substance of her work.
Imagined Family Heirlooms engages the lost histories of Americans. A
nation of immigrants, many of us know little of our origins or our
family history. Sentimental and nostalgic weave together through the
installations, imagery, and objects found and made. The artist along
with the viewer reach for a whole or at least the sense of one.
