Historic work will return home safely.

František Drtikol's recovered image "Vlna"

Bellows, Director of Joseph Bellows Gallery, was contacted early in the month in regards to "Vlna" by Czech photographer František Drtikol. The exceptional piece would be of great interest to many, as it is among the most valuable Czech images made. The seller's attitude sparked interest and Bellows researched the work to find the image had recently gone missing from Prague's Museum of Decorative Arts.

Acting quickly, and in hopes of securing the piece without raising suspicion in the seller, Bellows requested the work be sent on review. From his safe hands to the Art Loss Registrar in London the recovered print will continue on its way back home to Prague. A scary thought to museums and dealer's alike is theft, but at least this story has a happy ending.

Bellows continues to cooperate with Czech police and the Art Loss Register to find the suspect.
