Veteran photographer George S. Zimbel has highly refined his craft and sensibility. While working with widely recognized news sources, including The New York Times, Look, Redbook, Parents, and Architectural Forum among them Zimbel always found time to follow his own stories. One of his personal projects was a series that has been in progress for seven decades and remains timeless subject, childhood.

From clowns and characters to intimate family moments, even tense stand-offs; from strollers and street scenes to school settings Zimbel seems to have caught it all. What we realize as we spend time with these works is how skillfully the trained eye of Zimbel has selected his scenes, frames, moments. We do not see at these with the eye of an elder, rather with that of a child. We want to join the game, hide from our parents in protest, shrink from danger, make new friends, laugh. We do more than look at these works, we feel them.
