Cut from different cloth and drawn from different era the work of these two photographers would seem to have little in common. Now on view at Staley-Wise Gallery is the work of these two masters of the genre.

George Hoyningen-Huene and Kurt Marcus brought in waves a natural sophistication to fashion photography through the 20th century. First was Hoyningen-Huene, who came from Russian stock and would by 1925 be the chief photographer for Vogue in France, then Kurt Marcus, an American, who would emerge on the scene in the late 1980's. The two men were captivated by feminine beauty, reduced it to its essence before the lens, and in doing so raised the bar on the industry of fashion photography. Take the time to appreciate their work together.
