Irving Penn: Archaeology
Through January 15, 2011
The six decade career of Irving Penn was as as
broad as profound; Penn worked in commercial and editorial genres as
well as for himself. Twenty little seen platinum prints compose the
show at Pace/MacGill. The series of still lives engage the classic
vanitas theme objects used in the frames had been collected by the
artist for years. The images were made with an altered banquet camera
and the prints themselves took a year of work.
Mention in the New Yorker.
Exhibition details at Pace/MacGill Gallery.
