The Vanities: Hollywood Parties, 2000 - 2009
New text reveals telling human drama and honest moments
Not a movie-goer or TV enthusiast Larry Fink
floats invisible behind the scenes of Hollywood parties. Official Oscar
party photographer for Vanity Fair it seems quite unlikely that many
captured by the man with the camera are to him fairly unknown. Perhaps
an air of honesty is allowed that makes him and the frames unique,
honest. Rather than chase or houd, Fink seems to sit and wait.
Disappearing from the mind and sight of the guests has allowed him time
to capture the person, not the personality. The direct documentary
style and iconic black and white images seem to erase time but also
heighten drama and enhance dynamism. Emotions are felt rather than
judgement passed on the figures mot of us do know so well.
Images made over nine years compiled into text.
