Ullens Center for Contemporary Art Appoints New Director

Philip Tinari Named to Post

Philip Tinari is set to begin in his new role as Director of Ullens Center of Contemporary Art (UCCA) December 1st. Tinari will replace JérĂ´me Sans who has held the position since March 2008.

Established in November 2007 by collectors Guy and Myriam Ullens the Beijing institution is dedicated to giving platform to emerging and established Chinese artists and acting as liaison between art movements in China and the world. Tinari is expected to bring new energy to the institution as it moves forward and is well placed to do so. With experience that places him between China and the international art community Tinari is an ideal fit. Tinari has been contributing writer to Artforum; was Founder and Editor-in-Chief for the bi-lingual art-based periodical LEAP; Editor of; Adjunct Professor at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts; and Art Basel's Chinese representative.
