Robert Capa Medal Awarded to Agnes Dherbeys

The Oversees Press Club Anual Award

On April 28 the Oversees Press Club celebrated the work of Agnes Dherbeys with the prestigious Robert Capa Medal. The award is given annually to photojournalists covering international stories and show exceptional "courage and enterprise." Dherbeys' coverage of the anti-government protests in Thailand last spring earned her the award. Dherbeys is fitting candidate with international roots and recently fallen colleagues. The freelance photojournalist is based out of Bangkok and was born in Korea. As a child she grew up in France where she was inspired by the images of the award namesake, Robert Capa. The ceremony was bittersweet for all this year as the lives, work, and tragic fate of former Capa Medal winners and international conflict photographers Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros were honored at the awards dinner and by Dherbeys herself.
