Countersuit claims slander


Rick Norsigian who bought a box of glass-plate negatives at a garage sale believes images to be the work of Ansel Adams. Sale of prints has been claimed a trademark violation. Norsigian now fires back with countersuit, claiming slander against Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust.

Pierre Huyghe 2010 Winner of Smithsonian Contemporary Artist Award

$100,000 to New Media Artist from Brazil

Brazillian artist Cinthia Marcelle who specializes in film, photo, and installation is named winner of the Future Generation Art Prize.


Billionare and collector, Victor Pinchuk founded a nonprofit organization in 2006 to award funding to emerging artists; this new biannual award is for artists 35 and younger.

Peter C. Marzio Passes away

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Director for nearly 30 years looses battle with cancer.


Peter C. Marzio was the museum's longest-serving director. Marzio was a driving force for the museum; the permanent collection grew in size and focus. Artworks acquired under his direction nearly quadrupled the museum's holdings, and their origin grew beyond the mainstream Western voice. Notable accomplishments include a donation of pre-Columbian and Indonesian gold; additional areas of focus for collection and exhibition- Asian and Latin American artworks; growth in attendance, membership, and budget.
