Review: Sean McFarland, winner of 2009 Baum Award, at SFCamerawork

Photographer Sean McFarland isn't trying to fool you, but to look at his pictures on display at SF Camerawork is to not know exactly what you are looking at.


Inspired by landscape photographers like Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans and the peculiar qualities of Polaroid film, McFarland has created something unique. He collages impossible pictures - manipulating images either digitally or manually - and then takes a Polaroid of that image.
