GQ previews the exhibition celebrating Punk culture at the Michael Hoppen gallery

Punk emerged four decades ago as a backlash to the state of political and economic affairs in Britain, and the Kings road was the epicentre of the movement with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s infamous shop “Sex” opening in 1971. It seems apposite, then, that in this age of uncertainty and increasingly disenfranchised groups of young people, the Michael Hoppen Gallery on the Kings Road is celebrating 40 years since the emergence of the Punk movement with an exhibition showcasing vintage prints.
