At the Neues Museum, Nurnberg
Through June 22, 2014
As part of the celebrations for the 175th anniversary of photography, the Neues Museum is dedicating an extensive solo show to US American photo-artist Laurie Simmons. This will be the artist's first European Museum exhibition. The selection of work features images from the Gotez Collection, which was placed on permanent loan to the Neues Museum at the close of 2013. With its hyper-real but always narrow worlds and representations of prototypes Laurie Simmons has created a socially critical work out of the banal. Simmons uses staging of the everyday world, including dolls, doll houses, models, and action figures to raise questions on habit, role play, and everyday personal engagements.
