For the latest installment of The Darkroom, MOPA shall host the Los Angeles-based photographer and filmmaker, Alex Prager, for a screening of her short films, including Despair (2010) and her most recent piece, Face in the Crowd (2013). Prager’s imagery is noted for its recollections of Hollywood classics and female archetypes, its saturated colors, and its melodrama.
MOPA’s Darkroom initiative is an “experimental forum comprised of artist performances, lectures, and film screenings. This provocative series provides an exploratory environment and immersive experience in the photographic arts.” The evening will include a quartet performance conducted by award-winning composer, Ali Helnwein, who has scored Prager’s films.
