Water finds Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky treading into areas beyond the systems involved in the modern era's consumption of a precious and dwindling natural resource, water, but on the ethics of that use. We see land shift to shape water's path in irrigation systems and dams- both are used to control the substance. Ecosystems are made and devastated by human's redirection of water, but more interesting and more weighty is the distribution of the resource through social classes. One image, Navajo Reservation/Suburb, Phoenix, Arizona, USA shows a literal line in the sand dividing a cracked desert and plush urban expanse.
