To accompany exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Photography

Thursday March 10
Lecture: 6:00 pm; Stage Two, 618 S. Michigan Ave.
Reception: 7:30 - 9:00, Museum

Lecture and reception to be held in conjunction with Columbia College photography department's Lectures in Photography. Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick will discuss their most recent project, Mars: Adrift on the Hourglass Sea. In the series depicts two female characters who wander the martian landscape only to find evidence of a lost civilization. Advanced architectural structures remain to mark the absence of those who came before.

The artists have a common thread- both were born in 1964 and were five when man first walked on the moon. It is among both artists first memories. They have collaborated on several works that draw from history, science fiction, and their own imagination. Once concept they enjoy exploring is our understanding of time as linear; they play with what we know, what we think we know and ask us to suspend belief.
