Painful relevance resonates in works of Japanese photographers and tense home-front images by Alec Soth. On the lighter side are mentioned photomontages by Grete Stern at Vasari and a double portrait of Allen Ginsberg and Peter Orlovsky by Richard Avedon at at Eric Franck.
