While a student at the Minneapolis School of Art and Design DeCosse bought a camera and transformed his coal celler into a darkroom. This began his long love affair with photography.

DeCosse is a craftsman of the highest quality and experiments with unusual even lost processes since becoming known as a bit of an alchemist. The variety of techniques mastered include platinum/palladium Prints, Gum Dichromate Prints, and Photogravures. Samples from all of these techniques will be exhibited in the Retrospective exhibition scheduled to run the length of the summer. Regardless of process the works have a luminous radiance, elegant composition, and a quality of detail that is so precise it is tactile. These qualities speak to DeCosse's philosophy- an image should be so desirable to look at as to make you approach to see something you hadn't before. The images are all inviting and do lure the viewer to take a second, closer, more intimate look.
