Known and unknown works by George Platt Lynes have been drawn out of the shadows and retrieved from They Kinsey Institute's cold storage to go on exhibition at Throckmorton Fine Art. The male nude was a favorite of Lynes, but much hidden over the years. Due to the social and political climate of his time many images were known only to a close circle of friends and some from the Kinsey Institute have never before been seen.

Lynes worked for the best of the best- Vogue, Town and Country, and Harper's Bazaar, but these male nudes are the crown jewel of his oeuvre. Though his life was cut short at 48 Lynes knew these pieces were his most important work. Lynes is celebrated for photographing dancers but one glance at these master works reveals this is the subject with wich he was most engaged. The beauty, majesty, and grace of the figures is unforgettable. The light and shadow so tempting as to be touched, the forms so elegant and smooth as to be desired, and the emotion so strong as to be felt from within.

Vintage works and unique originals from recovered negatives to be on view. Text produced in collaboration with the Lynes estate and the Kinsey Institute. Steven Haas, editor, to attend reception and sign copies of the text.
