Edmund Capon to Retire
Edmund Capon to end his long run as Director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. After serving for over 30 years, Capon is known for popularizing the gallery, infusing it with energy, diversity, life. Capon can be credited with raising interest in the Archibald Prize for portrature and more recently for expanding the contemporary exhibition space and broadening the focus of the institution.
